Great things for FFBC in 2007.  Come see the many advances we have made and the talents we have discovered,,,  for a good time, come to ffbc 2007.

exciting news,

this year frightfest bc will be held at "reapers" in chilliwack,, the oldest haunted attraction in the lower mainland..

On the agenda for 2007

The Technicians of terror present their recently designed Necormancer boards.  This is the brain of the talking skull and is available in either single or double models.  With the double you can create conversation between 2 skulls.  Kits will be available and the boys will be on hand in this step-by-step workshop to ensure everybody leaves with a fully functional talking skull.

due to the cost of gathering all the necessary parts for this project, we will be asking for a deposit in advance.  please read the attached message from the Technicians for more details:

Please remember when considering these kits, these kits come as “complete” kits! There is absolutely nothing else required to make them work other than a CD or MP3 player and amplified speakers. The system will work without the speakers but if you can’t hear the soundtrack what’s the point? Be sure to bring your player to FFBC and some amplified speakers if you wish. All the wiring, power supplies and miscellaneous pieces are all included. We are even throwing in a Demo CD to help you get started. Making your own sound tracks is relatively easy (ask Dyanna) using a free utility called “Audacity” ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ). For more information on the Necromancer board, please go our website ( www.techniciansofterror.com ) and look under our products page and download the data sheet for the Necromancer. While at FFBC, we will help you to do the final assembly of your kit and answer any questions regarding the use of the Necromancer controller board. We will even demonstrate how you can add LED eyes that will flash with your soundtrack using the digital outputs of the Necromancer. We will also be demonstrating again how the controller can also be easily adapted to any “off the shelf” talking prop.

Here are the two options we are offering. If you have any questions, please send us an email including your name and phone number and I’ll be in touch ASAP. I’m on the Telus 4000 minute any time, any where plan and I’d love to use some of those minutes up!

some exciting news:  our very own boy wonder ben krakowsky has landed himself a job as a property master in the film industry and has gained a lot of knowledge about the different products in use out there and some tips and tricks.  He has offered to share this knowledge with us all at ffbc.  some of the stuff he has suggested covering are:

-Supertape, AKA "snot" and it's many uses
-Dusting using Streaks and Tips and pyrolite
-Aging with Movie Paint
-Use of vinyls
-Blood removal
-Rentals
-Anything else he can think of...

it should be interesting to see what he comes up with this year..

"deadspider" aka angie will be showing us how she makes her haunted trees.  for this workshop we will make a stump which will be able to house a pneumatic pop-up or any other item of your choice.  check our her website to get a feel for her work www.aranamuerta.com

the cost of this project will be posted soon.

this year we will also be making a simple but effective pneumatic pop-up prop based on Vern's design from the early years of frightfest northwest  this is a very easy to build and operate design which is ideally suited to beginners and effective for the more advanced prop builders.  for pneumatics to work you also need a solenoid/manifold.  we will offer a solenoid/

manifold workshop in conjunction with the pop-up workshop for those who have yet to learn how it all works together.

pneumatic pop-up workshop  $35

Manifold/solenoid without power supply $50

power supply is a 24 volt 1200mA power supply available at Home depot for around $25 but sometimes found at thrift stores for under $5,  if you are interested in doing this workshop, keep you eyes open at garage sales, flea markets or thrift stores for these power supplies...

the return of the fibreglass rock........ last year we constructed and painted hollow fibreglass rocks which are a great way to hide stereos, speakers or lighting.  this year we will once again be making rocks but with some advances over last years rocks.  due to the time required to make large rocks we will concentrate on small speaker rocks.  the skills learned can easily be taken home for larger rocks created in your own back yard.  for this project I ask that participants bring a small speaker that they would like to use in their own haunts.  the cost will be around $15 for this project and will include all materials, less the speaker.
